ZITEC, Inc announced today that it is supplying Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho with two fully reconditioned Munitions Assembly Conveyor (MAC) Conveyor Assemblies (tables). Pictures are included below of individual table parts after being stripped of all paint, inspected for defects by certified welders and machinists, repaired as necessary by the same, and then primed and painted IAW current MAC specifications. The tables were completely disassembled and each part individually and thoroughly inspected prior to being individually prepared and painted. After complete reassembly, the tables were painted with a second coat to protect them from the harsh environmental conditions they are exposed to often.
The following new components were installed as part of the reconditioning effort:
- All pneumatic components to include male and female fittings. The air lines were then tested for leaks and proper component functioning.
- Each quick release pin to include the two that mate tables together and the four leg height adjustment pins. Stainless steel pins were provided that exceed MIL SPEC requirements as it has been ZITEC's experience that cadmium-plated pins (like those that came on original MACs) corrode quickly causing the release mechanism (button and ball bearings) to freeze and not operate properly. Those pins often require to be hammered out during MAC disassembly and preparation for storage or shipment. Stainless steel pins do not corrode and will last the life of the tables.
- The grounding strap and alligator clamp, all lanyards, and all retaining rings. Continuity was then tested to verify proper grounding.
The following other processes were completed:
- Each conveyor table rail was resurfaced and coated with a protective dry film lubricant. This minor coating will ensure smooth dolly movement and prevent damage to the rail assembly.
- Connecting hardware and components were individually inspected and tested for alignment, proper functioning, and ease of tightening/loosening. Parts that did not meet ZITEC's stringent guidelines were discarded and replaced.
- Dolly return rails were checked for proper alignment, defects, nicks and burs, and repaired as necessary.
- The tables were carefully stacked and placed on an oversized pallet to ensure no damage would result during shipping and handling.
As a bonus, ZITEC included yellow air line covers that prevent moisture and foreign objects from entering the air line system. It has been ZITEC's experience that most hoist and pneumatic tool damage is caused by dirt, sand, and moisture in the air line system. The covers prevent these unwanted elements during storage and while the system is erected and not in use. The yellow air line covers are retained on the air line pipe by heavy-duty plastic elastic bands, are easy to remove prior to using the MAC, and do not interfere with the tables mating together whatsoever.
"Basically, the Air Force is getting "like new" MAC conveyor tables for far less the price of new," said Daniel Mank, President and founder ZITEC.
ZITEC maintains an inventory of MAC conveyor tables as well as all other MAC components to include reconditioned and certified hoists. All ZITEC parts and services come with a one year warranty. If your unit requires MAC parts you do not need to send ZITEC your damaged or incomplete part or assembly to be reconditioned. They provide all parts from their extensive MAC inventory. All you need to do is call or contact a ZITEC representative for a quote and delivery schedule.
